Saint Isidore Catholic School Home and School Association
Article I – Name
The name of this organization shall be the Saint Isidore Catholic Elementary School Home and School Organization.
Article II – Objective
The objectives of this organization shall be:
- To foster and strengthen communications between the school and parents.
- To support, sponsor and maintain activities and programs which assist the school in achieving its spiritual, scholastic, and administrative objectives.
- To provide tools to parents and families to enhance the children’s experiences at school and at home.
- To promote the health and welfare of our children and seek to promote collaboration between the parents, school, parish, and the community.
Article III – Authority to Exist
The St. Isidore Catholic School Home and School Organization shall exist through the authority of Omaha Diocesan Policy, which states: “All organizations, programs and clubs operating within a local parish school must operate within the policies of the local parish school.”
Article IV – Membership
All parents or guardians of St. Isidore Catholic School students are members of the Home and School Organization.
Article V – Meetings
Section 1 – The Home and School Executive Committee may agree to cancel a meeting under extraordinary circumstances.
Section 2 – The Executive Committee shall meet bi-monthly during the academic year except under extraordinary circumstances. The President shall have the power to set the date and time of all meetings with a committee majority vote.
Article VI – Executive Committee
Section 1 – The Executive Committee shall consist of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, School Board Representative, and Teacher Representative.
Section 2 – Officers shall be elected following the set election plan described in Article IX of this document.
Section 3 – The term of office shall be three years. No officer shall hold the same office for more than three consecutive years.
Section 4 – All Officers shall act in the best interest of the Home and School Association.
Section 5 – Any Officer can be removed from office by a two-thirds vote at a regular Home and School Association meeting. Advance notice of the vote shall be given to the Home and School Membership prior to the meeting.
Article VII – Duties of Officers
Section 1 – The President shall preside at all general meetings and all Executive Committee meetings. This includes delegating tasks to other officers, committee chairs, etc. The President is an ex-officio member of all committees. The President shall perform all duties that are incumbent on this office.
Section 2 – The Vice President shall assist the President at all times. In the absence of the President, the Vice President shall perform all duties of the President. The Vice President shall perform all duties that are incumbent on this office.
Section 3 – The Secretary shall record and post online minutes of all meetings held. Minutes shall be posted on the Home and School webpage of the in a timely manner. The secretary shall perform all duties that are incumbent on this office.
Section 4 – The Treasurer shall account for all monies of the Organization and keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures. The treasurer shall prepare reports for the Executive Committee and work with the school’s accountant to reconcile accounts. The Treasurer shall perform all duties that are incumbent on this office.
Section 5 – The Teacher Representative shall attend all general meetings and act as a liaison for all School Staff. In the event of an absence, the Teacher Representative should appoint another staff member to act in their place. The Teacher Representative shall perform all duties that are incumbent on this office.
Section 6 – The School Board Representative shall be appointed by the Saint Isidore School Advisory Board. Representative shall deliver a Home and School report to the School Advisory Board. They will also provide selected School Board reports to the Home and School Association. The School Board representative shall perform all duties that are incumbent on this office.
Article VIII – Committees
Section 1 – Standing committees shall be named annually in collaboration with the Principal to meet the needs of the school.
Section 2 – Committee chairperson(s) shall be appointed among volunteers by vote.
Section 3 – Special Committees shall be appointed from time to time as deemed appropriate by the Executive Committee to promote objectives and to carry out its work.
Article IX – Nominations and Elections
Section 1 – Nominations for Home and School Officers will be nominated by the membership at the final Home and School general meeting of the year.
Section 2 – The election will be held by an anonymous ballot.
Section 3 – The new officers shall be announced on the Home and School page of the website.
Section 4 – The term of office shall be three years, with option for re-election at term end.
Article X – Vacancies
Section 1 – In the event of a vacancy on the Executive Committee, the remaining Executive Members shall appoint a person to fill the position for the remainder of the term. With the approval of the Executive Committee, this person shall take over said office.
Article X1 – Funds
Section 1 – Home and School funds shall be used for programs, events, and sponsored items that directly benefit the students/staff of the school.
Section 2 – All funds raised for Home and School must be documented and submitted to the Home and School Treasurer. All funds received by the Treasurer must be deposited into the bank account set up by the school for Home and School use.
Section 3 – An updated financial report shall be kept by the Treasurer at all times and published on the electronic register.
Section 4 – An annual budget for the impending School Year shall be prepared by the Executive Committee. The annual budget shall be approved by membership vote.
Section 5- Any funds spend over $500.00 not planned and accounted for on the annual budget, shall be voted upon by membership before spent.
Article XII – Programs, Events, and Sponsored Items
Section 1 – Home and School shall plan programs, events, and sponsored items that directly benefit the students/staff of the school.
Section 2 – All programs, events, and sponsored items should be planned on an Annual Calendar by the Executive Committee and voted upon by membership vote.
Section 3 – All dates for programs, events, and sponsored items should be discussed with the school principal.
Article XIII – Quorum
Section 1. The presence, in person, of three of the six Executive Committee members shall constitute a quorum for the continuation of business at any meeting of membership.
Section 2. Voting membership includes parents/guardians of children enrolled at St. Isidore Catholic Elementary School and faculty/staff.
Section 3. At any meeting of Home and School a majority of the present voting membership will constitute a quorum. Each parent/guardian will possess one vote in matters coming before Home and School.
Section 4. All voting at the meetings will be by each parent/guardian in person. Voting by proxy will not be allowed. Under special circumstances, voting may take place in written form through the family folders with deadlines adhered to so that the vote is valid.
